wow its been months, life just ticks along though doesn't it. Spring was swept up with work and life in general. I went on an overnight jaunt to Vancouver to do a pet first aid class with Dogsafe, which was really good. I am wanting to look into doing pet first aid here. Need to do some more pet classes and update my human first aid. Not sure when bills have a more pressing need to be paid than taking on more debt.
Doug and I went to a family wedding in Calgary in July and had a great time. Our friends Mark and Christy put us up. The reception was nice although not too much of the family was there. We managed to get to an equestrian event at Spruce Meadows and see many of the big names in show jumping. After some visiting with M and C we headed for home. Despite having a rainy day we did do some touristing on the way home and had a good day.
I took Reagan to an ecollar seminar in Aldergrove in July, it was interesting. Not sure entiredly what I thought but it was not the cruel thing it is made out to be by lots of trainers. I can see that it has a place. after that I planned the events for the dog days of spring at Haney house. It was soooooo hot that day but it turned out pretty well. We also acquired a house guest that night when Doug brought a young hitchhiker from Quebec home to use the internet. We let him sleep in the yard, he had a tent and that turned out into moving into the garage and looking for some work. Lots of people were not very keen on that idea but DOug and I both felt that it was someting we could do to help someone. He is looking for new experiences and got to some festivals, dinners, lost a job etc... and is now in victoria where we are hoping he will find a job and stay. although he may end up back this way to pick up his stuff and head to banff.
Now we are back to fall schedule with Doug oncall for the schools during the day and Bizzy Bee at night. we did spend the weekend at the lake which was nice with a break in town to be in the parade. Doug in the work car and me on the float for Lakeside. It was fun. now i am on one day on one day off four days on schedule which kinda bites but will be OK. dogs are sleeping. i am blogging and watching tv.

A New Year
Well it has been a while since I have been here. Christmas has come and gone. It turned out well. We managed to get to everyone and not be too stressed out. DOug and Reilly did the polar bear swim again this year. New Years was quiet for me again as i worked the next day. I did not make resolutions this year exactly, just a few things to work towards.
Rory had seizures prior to Christmas and had to have his meds upped again. Then the monday before we went on our vacation he seizured again. Meds were upped again. So I was nervous as we left on our trip to Las Vegas. He was at the kennel where he was safe but I would have felt much better if his meds were balanced. We left Jan 11 in the evening to Vegas with our friends Paul and Bonnie. Doug and I stayed at the Luxor. It was nice enough but we would probably not stay there again.
We wandered the strip, did some gambling, wandered thru most of the main casinos. We did the dinner theatre at the Excalibur, nothing like eating with your hands and watching men on horses duking it out, watched the water show at the Bellagio, the pirate show at the TI, took in the Folies Bergeres at the Tropicana (topless of course), went thru Madame Tausauds, did some shopping, sampled pops at the COKE store, the others did rides at the Stratosphere and the rollercoaster at New York, New York.
The weather was warm and sunny, perfect for wandering the strip and drinking some beverages. We did not check the airport before we left so when we went to check in for our return trip we discovered that our flight was canceled due to fog in Kelowna. So Westjet put us up at the Hyatt Place. We decided to take a friday night flight so that we had one more day in Vegas. We rented a car in the morning and headed off to the Hoover Dam. The weather was wonderful. We did get to Red Rock Canyon but late in the day so it got dark quickly. Our drive back to the airport took longer than planned as so many roads were under construction. Our flight to Vancouver was delayed but we did make it there. We were put up for one more night there and after calling to find an earlier flight home, made it back to Kelowna on saturday. A day delayed for work for Doug and I but as it was foggy in Van were happy to get home. Westjet treated us well.
Now were are back to work and missing the sunny days as it is socked in cloudy here.
