So the may long weekend is over and it turned out to great weather although it is now raining quite hard. D and I took three days off to go to Vancouver for a friends wedding. I have known her since we were 5 and started kindergarten together. Lots of school, memories and moves later we are still friends. She works for the UN right now and is married to a British fellow who is winding down a 22 years of service in HMA. They have a house in England where they will live.
We went down after work on wednesday and got in late. We spent a sunny day walking downtown and shopping. We went down to Granville Island and meandered thru the market and sampled some beer at the brewery. I died about 530 though leaving Doug to wander around on his own for the evening. Friday morning we got ready and indulged in Starbucks. We headed to the park early and found the spot fairly easily. The park does not look as bad as I thought it could be after the big wind storm. I know so many people are moaning about the loss of trees but it is a natural cycle. We met lots of the family, old friends, and some new people. It was sunny and beautiful, we all got sunburned during pictures. We had a great dinner; most of our table had salmon. Afterwards we all headed down to the beach and the kids had a swim. Afterwards we went downtown with a friend; he found a room in our hotel. We had a great dinner at an indian restaurant and then some drinks at the Fog N Suds.
Saturday we went to a lunch at the brides cousins and then headed to visit some of D's family before heading back.
