It is cold here right now. I have city dogs, never slept a day outside dogs, never grown winter hair dogs... who love to go outside. At the moment they want all day to go out, and then their little feet freeze and they have a hard time walking... yet they never ever want to stay in. Wish I had that much enthusiasm.
Rory had a bad day yesterday with two major and two minor seizures on a roughly 45 minute period. So he got extra meds and Doug got to experience shooting valium up a dogs butt. These episodes make him uncoordinated and restless so he really did not sleep all day, when what he really needed to do was sleep. So phone call to the vet to let him know what has happened. Now back to the vets to do blood tests on his phenobarb levels. He has just been increased since the levels were low on his first test after being medicated. So does he need to be increased, does his body absorb it too fast... many questions. The vet is not happy that these big seizures occurred already... basically he should be holding steady. So we have to figure out why not. Some dogs get medicated and stay at a level of basic drugs forever, others require more of the phenobarb, reach a point at which anymore would poison them and then have to start taking a cocktail of meds. i am hoping that this is not the case. Financially it would be more of an issue and as he is a young dog, increased dosages and cocktails of drugs have of course there own side effects.
