We finally got our first major dump of snow. And are now locked into cold weather. But it is sunny and clear... I can live with the cold. My bah humbugs have been put somewhat on the backburner. Blue skies and snow...
I have in the last months been spending lots of time reading. Until summer rolled around it was rather intermitent, which is not usual for me. I started with JA Jance, discovered James Rollins and books by douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. I reread Memoirs of A Geisha, A History Of Salt, and A Swiss Family Robinson. I will admit mostly escapist reading, nothing to strenous or anything. Also started the music playing again, classic rock to jazz, country to classical. My musical tastes run all over the place.
Yet despite all this and my foray into much Christmas baking, which I do enjoy, I have been rather ho-hum about Christmas. I usually decorate early but so far have only managed to put lights on the tree (and that was really Doug). the ornaments are on the floor beside the tree. I actually do like this season a lot... perhaps too much work over the week of Christmas, which is usual, meaning I am tired and not enjoying. Mom is gone for a month, which in a way relieves some of the stress of the holidays... trying to fit in everyone and find a way to make some of our own traditions. Doug's Mom is ill and we of course want to spend as much time there as we can, and fit in my Dad's family to. Too many things to do, when all I would love to do is shut the door and stay at home. But perhaps I stay at home a little too much the rest of the time...
But on the other side of the holidays we are going to Vegas for 4 days. not long but its four days out of here. far away from here. we are going with friends and I am looking forward to spending this time with them. P, I have known in some fashion or another since elementary school and began spending time with as adults when he and Doug worked together. He and is wife are really great people and B and I are getting excited planning things for us to do when away. She also thinks that gettign married (re-married in both our cases) while there would be a hoot... shenanigans may occur... and remember what happens in Vegas, ends up getting posted on facebook.
